THE BLACK HOUSES MOVEMENT
The first Black House will be in New Orleans, Louisiana in the New Marigny. Less than a block away from The St. Roch Market and a 6 minute drive from The French Quarter, this is the perfect place for us to begin curbing gentrification in historically Black communities.

HARRIET HOUSE
Applications Due May 31st
The Harriet House is the first ever Black House. Located in the New Marigny, it is right around the corner from The St. Roch Market, The New Orleans Healing Center (gym, grocery store, barber, yoga, credit union), and a 6-minute drive to The French Quarter. To rent a 1 bedroom in this neighborhood would cost you almost $1,200 per month.
THE SETUP FOR SUCCESS

Jullien Gordon lives in one of the 3 units. As the first Black House, he will be close by to ensure an amazing experience for all residents and deliver the curriculum live in his large living room where the weekly teachings and Sunday dinners will occur.
The other 2 units will be combined with 4 women upstairs in the newly renovated loft space on queen beds and the 4 men downstairs on queen bunk beds. They will each have their own bathrooms and they will share a kitchen and living room.

WHO SHOULD APPLY TO LIVE IN A BLACK HOUSE?
You must be African-American. African-Americans have the lowest homeownership rates nationally and the goal of The Black Houses is to change that.
You must be between the ages of 21 and 25. We believe in age-appropriate housing and grouping to nurture safety and growth.

You must be earning $40,000+ in annual salary whether you have a college degree or a trade in order for us to achieve the program's 2-year homebuyership goal.

You must work within a 30 mile radius of The Black House to ensure active participation in the community and program.

You must demonstrate a community orientation—an ability to live and work productively with a diverse group of people.

You must demonstrate a commitment to positively impacting New Orleans through volunteering, business, or advocacy while you are a resident.

You must agree to our UpPayment Plan where the $718 difference between market rate rent of $1,118 and House Huddle Rent of $400 is paid with rent monthly and held by the program to go towards your downpayment when you are ready to buy your first multifamily home.

OUR FOUNDER
JULLIEN GORDON
Jullien Gordon is a proud father, 6-time author, 5-time TED Talker, serial entrepreneur and real estate investor. His work has been featured on MSNBC, Forbes, Black Enterprise, and Essence.

He is on a mission to free 300 people like Harriet Tubman. He has already fully freed several people through his coaching and courses, but now he is doing it through real estate. He defines freedom as the ability to be who you were created to be and do what you were created to do.

Growing up, Jullien had 9 last name—Gordon, Ikharo, Ash, Primas, Shields, Kelly, Hopkins, Chambers, and Brown. These are all the families that helped raise him. The notion that it takes a village to raise a child was Jullien's reality.

As a result, community building has always been central to his life whether it was The African Men's Collective at UCLA, monthly potluck dinners during his time at The Stanford Graduate School of Business and in Brooklyn, New York, or the national mastermind goal setting groups movement he created through his platform Masterminds.org.

Entrepreneurship and real estate paved the way for his freedom. After buying his first home—a 3-family apartment building—in Brooklyn, New York in 2013 and experiencing the power of home ownership, he went on to invest in more multifamily real estate in New Orleans and Oakland. Now he is dedicated to helping others become multifamily owners too.
